A five-generation family redoubt above the Fex valley, where the stone-pine and larch pools count for as much as the view.
The same family since 1908, now the fifth generation, in a building above Sils-Maria that Nietzsche would still recognise. The Engadin light in winter is the thing people come back for.
The spa is fifteen hundred square metres over three floors, with a treatment line curated by Susanne Kaufmann. The two pools are the local signature: one lined in cembra stone pine, one in larch, with two matching steam baths. A Finnish sauna with a cold plunge and a fresh-air terrace, and an outdoor whirlpool.
Stay two nights or more and the regional transport and mountain railway pass is free. Tennis and the hotel's own minigolf course are included. The spa level is fourteen-plus, with a separate family pool area for younger children.
