There is no road. You reach it by cable car, and once you are up there, there are no cars at all — which does more for the nervous system in the first hour than most spas manage in a week.
Matteo Thun designed it in larch, glass, stone and clay, at fifteen hundred metres, with forty-one rooms and a twelve-hundred-square-metre spa. The indoor pool is spring-fed with an infinity edge facing the forest at twenty-nine degrees; the whirlpool runs indoors to outdoors at thirty-five. The Finnish sauna and steam bath are adults-only, as are the Silencium relaxation room and the Momentum meditation room.
It is the smallest and quietest spa on this list, deliberately. Children of six and under only, according to third-party reporting, and Thun conceived the place as somewhere for adults. Bring a book.
