A third-generation von der Thannen house in the centre of Ischgl, combining a Michelin-starred kitchen with a spa built around a 4 × 20 m open-air pool.
Ischgl is not a quiet town, and the Trofana Royal is the argument that you can be in the middle of it and still rest. The von der Thannen family are on their third generation; the kitchen holds a Michelin star and seven Gault&Millau toques; the spa scored ninety-eight out of a hundred in the 2026 Falstaff guide.
The four-by-twenty-metre outdoor pool is open to the sky and heated all year. There is an ice grotto, a dry-salt sauna, a brine steam bath, and separate textile and nude zones so you need not negotiate anything at the door.
In summer the Silvretta Card arrives free on the first night and covers every open mountain railway across four valleys, all the regional buses, and the high alpine road. Dogs are not accepted anywhere, which tells you something about the house.
