A large family-owned Zillertal resort where the spa, all-day board and a guided daily programme give the stay its structure, and none of it is an add-on.
Eleven bodies of water, twelve saunas and a twenty-five-metre sports pool, run by a Zillertal family who clearly decided that half-measures were not worth the trouble. The Solebasilika is a salt wet-sauna with its own brine pool; there is a snow cave; and the mountain lake bathing area does what mountain lakes do to a nervous system.
Board is close to relentless in the best sense — breakfast until half eleven, a gourmet buffet at one, cake at half three, six courses at half six. It begins at one o'clock on the day you arrive, which effectively buys you an extra afternoon.
The guides are the underrated part. A walking guide six days a week in summer, two ski guides five days a week in winter, and a shuttle to the Finkenberg gondola two hundred metres away.
