Alpenresort Schwarz
A family-owned resort on the Mieming Plateau built around nine pools and a garden sauna village, with a 27-hole golf course alongside.
A twenty-five-metre infinity pool, a garden sauna village, and an eleven-hundred-square-metre bathing pond you can swim in or plunge into depending on the month. The Pirktl family have been adding to it for decades and it has the pleasant sprawl of somewhere that grew rather than opened.
Nine yoga classes a week, plus qi gong, Pilates, back training and mental relaxation. Guided hikes four or five times a week. Two padel courts and three tennis courts, rackets included. A weekly golf taster from March to November, with a twenty-seven-hole course next door.
Board is half board that behaves like more: breakfast until half eleven, cake in the afternoon, dinner from half six, a forty-euro dining credit toward the à la carte restaurant, and several free lunch invitations a week.
