Quellenhof Luxury Resort Passeier

Twenty-three saunas, twelve pools and a glass rooftop infinity pool, with firm age zoning to keep them apart.

Twenty-three saunas. Twelve pools. This is the maximalist end of the genre and it does not pretend otherwise.

The glass Sky infinity pool on the roof is sixteen-plus only; the Lake Event Sauna is a nude zone with regular Aufguss infusions and has the awards to prove it; there is a dry-salt inhalation lounge, a brine grotto, a twenty-five-metre Olympic pool with electronic timing, and a natural bathing pond. Your key also opens the four-thousand-square-metre spa at the sister hotel down the road, which has its own adults-only rooftop.

The age zoning is the clever part — three separate spas at sixteen, fourteen and six — so it works for a couple and for a family with small children without either pretending the other is not there. Six tennis courts, two padel courts and a pickleball court, all free with rackets. At least five sauna infusions a day.

Before you book

Before you go6 things worth knowing first
  • Parts of the spa are textile-free. Rooftop Spa 16+; Vital Spa 14+ with sauna 16+; Family Spa from age 6 If bathing without a swimsuit is not for you, check which zones before you book — in much of the Alps it is the norm rather than the exception.
  • There is a dress code at dinner. Elegant attire is expected. Worth a jacket in the case.
  • The house takes children, but not everywhere in it. Rooftop Spa 16+; Vital Spa 14+ with sauna 16+; Family Spa from age 6 For the children themselves: Childcare from age 3, all day and all year (from age 2 at certain times, with registration). Free lunch at the Children's Club with registration. Junior Club, children's restaurant, Acqua Family Parc, playrooms, mini golf, ninja course, 3D cinema, climbing hall. Free hire of bottle warmers, baby monitors and prams.
  • Local tourist tax is extra — €3.30 per person from age 14, per night, collected at the hotel and not in the rate.
  • Dogs — €25.00 per day; dog-sitting €20.00 per hour.
  • Language. English is spoken throughout, but the hotel's own pages are often fuller in German or Italian — which is where several of the details above came from.
